Workforce Development

Recruitment strategies were developed to enhance hiring nationally and to expand engagement of potential candidates at colleges and universities. Job fairs with Human Resources were also conducted. A 6-month needs report was developed to forecast staffing needs and advance recruitment. A Human Capital Management dashboard with access to real-time staffing data was established. Teams will regularly re-evaluate hiring needs, implement position control, consolidate recruitment efforts for mission critical classifications, and assess and improve virtual induction. COMPLETE STAFF HIRING, ON- BOARDING, AND INDUCTION TRAINING FOR MISSION CRITICAL WORK

Programs and divisions are adopting tracking tools to ensure compliance with monthly conferences and unit meetings as part of the department’s goal to foster a strengths-based culture. Annual Performance Evaluations and Mandatory Trainings are tracked on the Executive Dashboard to meet the compliance threshold of 90%. IMPLEMENT COMMUNICATIONS & ENGAGEMENT PLAN

Began a “Monthly Director’s Message” to all staff; launched a rebranded newsletter and began a video series (highlighting clients and staff, the strategic planning process, and more). Formed the Transforming Organizational Performance (TOP) Communications Advisory team. Several internal and external communications campaigns are under way. The team launched a robust media center, a new website, a DPSS podcast, and robust engagement plan. The department will continue to focus on strengthening partnerships and communications to support all organizational imperatives and best outcomes.
