17 2023 Elder and Dependent Adult Abuse Symposium

PRESENTERS

Presenter will review a PowerPoint presentation with the group on the topic of grief and loss and share recommendations on how to help others cope with multiple types of losses (i.e., loss of a loved one, loss of independence, job loss, loses due to COVID-19, etc.). Participants will learn how grief and loss impact a person’s mood, physical health and relationships and will be taught strategies to cope with these challenges. The presenter will be available for questions and group discussion following presentation. The presenter will also share information about no cost mental health services available to people ages 55+ and their caregivers in the following counties: Riverside, San Bernardino, Los Angeles, and Orange (individuals residing in other counties within California are served on a case-by-case basis depending on need and access). This workshop will describe implicit bias and understand how our unconscious bias impacts the treatment of others based on gender identity and sexual orientation. It will summarize strategies on how to identify and minimize gender identity and sexual orientation implicit bias. Attendees will learn to recognize the impact of gender bias and sexual orientation prejudice.
