Intentional aging embodies a deliberate and purposeful approach that challenges ageism and reshapes our perceptions of growing older. In this training session, participants will explore the concepts of ageism and intentional aging, gaining a deeper understanding of how intentional living can not only improve the quality of life but also extend one’s lifespan. Through an examination of the impact of intentional aging on longevity, attendees will uncover strategies to enhance overall well-being and vitality. Additionally, the session will delve into the pervasive issues of loneliness and isolation among older adults, sparking discussions on effective ways to foster social connections and combat feelings of isolation. Furthermore, participants will explore the intertwined concepts of independence and fulfillment, considering how intentional living can contribute to a sense of purpose and satisfaction in later life. By embracing intentional aging principles, attendees will gain valuable insights and tools to navigate the aging process with resilience and purpose. The presentation will comprise of an overview of the Public Administrator’s role in a decedent’s estate and disposition management. The presentation will also cover Elder and Dependent Adult Abuse issues (physical and financial), concerns, laws that protect victims and their estates and tactics to hold those accountable who commit these crimes, as well as factual case examples/success stories. The presentation will also discuss different testamentary documents and legal documents such as trusts, wills, powers of attorney, durable power of attorney for health care, etc. The presentation is designed to share information and resources with other agencies who should refer cases to the Public Administrator, and to provide general information about laws, crimes, and restitution methods for recovery and accountability techniques.
