Addressing Communication Challenges within Elder and Dependent Adult Sub-populations. Understanding and communicating effectively with elder and dependent adults who are victims of abuse are necessary skills for Adult Protective Services, law enforcement, district attorneys, and other professionals. The presentation will cover new strategies for effective interviewing and include techniques that can be used for victims with cognitive impairments, developmental delays and limited verbal abilities. Participants of this keynote will develop a broader understanding of these unique populations and learn how to get the information they need when interviewing and assessing victims.
