“A Fair to Remember” Celebrates the Compassion and Contributions of Caregivers

In celebration of National Family Care giver Appreciation Month, the IHSS Pub lic Authority honored Riverside County’s caregivers with two vibrant Caregiver Appreciation and Resource Fair events in November 2024. Themed “Celebrating Caregivers: A Fair to Remember,” the gatherings on No vember 19 in Palm Springs and Novem ber 21 in Moreno Valley brought together nearly 300 caregivers for heartfelt rec ognition of their compassion and com mitment to supporting vulnerable adults across the county. The Public Authority’s Training and Re cruitment Team led the effort, uniting

staff, partner agencies, sponsors and more than 25 community resource vendors to create a day centered on gratitude and celebration. Attendees enjoyed breakfast, lunch and classic fair treats such as popcorn and cotton can dy. The lively atmosphere featured inter active games, raffle drawings, a 360 de gree photo booth, live table magic and music that encouraged connection and camaraderie. Caregivers also participated in wellness presentations, including “Wellness” by the DPSS Office of Health and Wellness and “Harvesting Joy” by the Riverside County Office on Aging. A highlight of both events was the presentation of

the Caregiver of the Year awards to four outstanding IHSS caregivers nominated by the United Domestic Workers (UDW) Union and IHSS social services staff for their exceptional service. Every caregiv er in attendance received a personalized certificate of appreciation and access to valuable community resources. Representatives from the Riverside County Board of Supervisors, the IHSS Public Authority and UDW offered re marks of gratitude and presented a County Proclamation recognizing No vember 2024 as National Family Care givers Month, underscoring the essen tial role caregivers play in enhancing the community.
