Self-Sufficiency Division
Connecting People to Resources and Advancing Self-Reliance The Self-Sufficiency Division administers programs that help Riverside County residents stay healthy, nourished, securely housed and moving toward self-reliance. We connect individ uals and families to Medi-Cal, which provides health coverage for nearly one in every three Riverside County residents. We also help people access CalFresh, California’s largest anti hunger program. CalFresh enables hundreds of thousands of county residents, including college students, working families, seniors, veterans and dependent adults, to access healthy food while delivering more than $1.3 billion in annual economic activity to county grocers, farmers markets, restaurants and neighborhood businesses. In a state where high living costs strain household budgets, we provide residents with job training, childcare and housing support. Working with schools, nonprofits, health systems and cities across Riverside County’s 2.53 million residents, Self-Sufficiency programs advance community well-being and expand opportunity to help people build healthier, more secure futures for themselves and their families.
