Julian Rivera landed a job on the spot
Nearly 1,500 job seekers connected with 90 employers at the 29th Valley-Wide Employment Expo on Sept. 19 at Fanta sy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, mark ing one of the region’s largest workforce events and a 54 percent increase in at tendance from the prior year’s event. The expo offered on-the-spot inter views, résumé support and access to professional attire, helping remove bar riers for residents preparing to reenter or advance in the workforce. Volunteers and community partners guided job seekers throughout the day, creating an environment centered on opportunity, confidence and practical support. Among the day’s successes was Julian Rivera, who secured a job immediately after meeting with Shadow Mountain Golf Course, a reminder of how quickly access can translate into employment. For many in attendance, the employ ment expo is a launchpad for new begin nings.
Job seeker Petra Salvatierra said the in-person connections to an array of employers set the event apart. “I’ve heard about this so many times, seen it advertised on TV. It looks like a great opportunity to see what’s out there for professionals,” she said. “It’s person to person, not just over the internet. It’s a
great opportunity for everyone to pres ent themselves here.” Organizers credit the event’s continued growth to the combined efforts of em ployers, local officials and community organizations who help make the expo accessible and meaningful.
