CALWORKS HOUSING SUPPORT RESTORES STABILITY FOR FAMILIES
Homelessness can unfold quickly and without warning, often caused by circumstances outside a family’s control. When that happens, the Cal WORKs Housing Support Program (HSP) provides a lifeline, helping fam ilies regain stability and rebuild their sense of security. For Marisela Pescador and her family, the crisis began when the unit they were renting was sold and all tenants were told they needed to leave. With little time to prepare and nowhere else to turn, the family suddenly faced the possibility of homeless ness.

The program assisted with their security deposit, last month’s rent, and ongoing subsidies, giving them the foundation they needed to move forward with confidence and stability. Pescador’s experience reflects what many families face during moments of unexpected instability. With coor dinated support and access to hous ing resources, families can move from crisis to stability and begin building the future they deserve.
