Building People and Building Service Through the Workforce Development Branch

The Workforce Development Branch shapes the employee experience at DPSS from the moment someone ap plies to join the department through every stage of their journey. Under the leadership of Deputy Director Romera Liddell, the branch works to build a pre pared and supported workforce for both the department and the communities it serves. Together, three units form a branch dedicated to strengthening peo ple, improving services and preparing DPSS for the challenges ahead The DPSS Employee Success Center serves as a trusted resource where em

ployees find support, answers and guid ance. The DESC team manages payroll, leave, staffing changes and policy con sultation, handling behind-the-scenes work that keeps a large public agency moving forward. Their goal is to make it easier for employees to succeed and grow within DPSS. Staff Development brings training, in ternal communication and professional growth together under one roof. Trainers and content specialists help employees build the skills needed to support River side County’s diverse communities, while also producing videos, photography and

messaging that keep staff informed and connected. Mass Care steps in when Riverside Coun ty communities face their toughest cri ses. As Riverside County’s designated mass care shelter partner during local disasters, the team of DPSS volunteers, led by Emergency Services Coordinator Marie Davis, immediately responds when fires, floods and other disasters force residents from their homes. Working closely with local agencies and commu nity partners, they provide safe shelter and stability during times of crisis.
