DPSS Employee Success Center (DESC) Powers Staff and Department Forward
The DPSS Employee Success Center (DESC) powers every division with work force support that keeps the department moving. Through staffing, recruitment, employee development and compliance, DESC ensures employees have the tools, guidance and structure they need to succeed, while helping divisions stay ful ly staffed and responsive to community needs. Its mission is grounded in a simple idea that when employees are supported, communities benefit. That focus shapes everything from onboarding new hires to helping long time staff navigate complex workplace needs. During Fiscal Year 2024/25, Compliance Services guided employees through medical, family and personal leave, re turn to work processes and workers compensation. The team handled more than a thousand leave cases, hundreds of accommodations and nearly two hun dred injury or illness matters, ensuring employees received timely and informed support.
The Workforce Services Team brought new talent into the department and helped current employees advance, processing new hires and promotions that strengthened frontline and admin istrative operations. The ASD and CSD Staffing Team kept major divisions fully staffed through coordinated recruit ments and strategic facilities planning. Employee Services supported 4,650 employees by managing payroll, bene fits, onboarding, compliance and per sonnel records. Their work provides an operational foundation that allows staff to focus on serving the public. The Employee Development Unit ad vanced recruitment, training, technology integration, career pathways and rec ognition efforts through the Workforce Development Branch’s A.R.O.R.A. Plan (Attracting, Recruiting, Onboarding, Re taining and Activating). The team sup ported professional growth across the department and distributed more than a thousand service year awards, celebrat ing the dedication of DPSS employees.
