Staff Development Builds Workforce Capacity Across DPSS

Staff Development strengthens the DPSS workforce by delivering county wide training, leadership development, computer-based training, media pro duction, onboarding, and operational training support across multiple divisions. In alignment with Administrative Services Division goals, Staff Development sup ports internal customers through timely training, workforce readiness, change management, technology-based learn ing, and continuous improvement. Throughout Fiscal Year 2024/25, Staff Development teams partnered with in ternal divisions, external training provid ers, and statewide agencies to deliver high-quality learning that supported compliance, strengthened service de livery, and improved workforce capac ity. Staff Development’s work included Adult Services Training, Children’s Ser vices Training, Harmony Haven Train ing, Self-Sufficiency Training, Comput er-Based Training, Media Production, Leadership Development, and depart mentwide training management.

Staff Development continued to mod ernize training delivery through classroom instruction, virtual learning, eLearning, video production, SharePoint resource development, Power BI dashboards, mi crolearning, and data-informed training

reports. These tools expanded access to learning, improved transparency, and provided leadership with stronger insight into training compliance, participation, and workforce readiness.

Training, Leadership Development and Program Support

Staff Development supported departmentwide induction programs, New Employee Orientation, mentorship activities, leadership onboarding, su pervisor development, and cross-divisional train ing initiatives through Fiscal Year 2024/25. Key efforts included supporting the Children’s Services 20-hour annual training mandate for more than 1,200 employees, increasing compli ance from 92 percent to 94 percent, and deliver ing eight Child Welfare Induction classes for more than 250 inductees with a 98.8 percent com pletion rate. Staff Development also supported In-Home Supportive Services/Adult Protection Services Induction, Harmony Haven Children and Youth Center residential care training, ProAct cer tification, trauma-informed care, de-escalation training, and leadership development pathways for supervisors and managers.
