COMPLETE & IMPLEMENT FACILITIES/BUILDING CONSOLIDATION PLAN

ESTABLISH AN INTRADEPARTMENTAL CONTINUOUS QUALITY IMPROVEMENT (CQI) GOVERNANCE

Consolidation of space continued, with plans that incorporate a telecommuting workforce. A heatmap of customers and office locations is being developed to inform planning. A workgroup will continue consolidation through June 2024. STRUCTURE, TRAINING & IMPLEMENTATION PLAN

Executive leadership participated in CQI training to ensure a shared knowledge and vision for staff training. Each division has developed a governance structure. A vendor is being sought to provide training and support for continuous quality improvement and staff-wide engagement.

COMPLETE THE DPSS THREE- YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN

DEVELOP A FUNDING SUSTAINABILITY PLAN FOR GENERAL ASSISTANCE (GA)

Strategic planning workgroup were formed. Nearly 3,500 employees participated in a department-wide SWOT Analysis (SWOT = Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) to inform development of the strategic plan. In collaboration with executive leadership, the workgroups are determining the goals, strategies, and objectives for the department’s top three priorities:

Processes were streamlined and efficiencies were developed. CalFresh and GA Eligibility Services Clerks were trained on interviewing and caseload management. Quarterly GA expenditure pay reports were developed. GA housing solutions were modified to include a shelter referral process for GA customers. DPSS’s Self-Sufficiency division is finalizing a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Behavioral Health for customer referrals.
