The Riverside County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) invites you to join us as a speaker at the 2026 Elder & Dependent Adult Symposium, an event that brings together professionals dedicated to promoting the health, safety, independence, and well-being of seniors and dependent adults. This event engages the community in the protection and empowerment of elder and dependent adults across Riverside County. We are in search of knowledgeable and passionate individuals to share their insights, strategies, and solutions to drive meaningful impact.

SYMPOSIUM OVERVIEW

The Riverside County Department of Social Services (DPSS), Adult Services Division will host the 2026 Elder & Dependent Adult Abuse Symposium on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at the Riverside Convention Center. We are currently seeking dynamic workshop speakers to contribute to this important event. If you have a relevant and engaging topic to share, we encourage you to submit a speaker proposal. This symposium brings together a diverse audience, including professionals from social services, healthcare, financial institutions, law enforcement, the District Attorney's Office, state investigative agencies and community based organizations (CBOs). After each symposium, we carefully review attendee feedback and use it to shape future programming. Based on the evaluations from the 2025 event, attendees expressed interest in the following session topics:

Sexual Abuse Involving Older Adults and Dependent Adults Alcohol and Substance Abuse in Vulnerable Adult Populations Housing Insecurity and Homelessness: Strategies and Solutions Documentation Strategies for Successful Prosecution Grief and Depression in Older Adults LGBTQ+ Identity and Sexuality in Later Life Caregiver Burnout: Recognition and Response Interviewing Dependent Adults: Skills, Services, and Resources Multidisciplinary Team Approaches to Complex Cases

Incorporating Lived Experience: Featuring Real-Life Survivors of Abuse Navigating Powers of Attorney, Trusts, Wills, and Final Expenses Understanding the Probate Conservatorship Process Technology Trends and Financial Exploitation (AI, ChatGPT, and Emerging Risks)

This list is intended as a guide; we welcome unique and innovative proposals on any topic related to elder and dependent adult abuse. If you are interested in presenting at this impactful event, which draws over 500 professionals annually, please complete and submit this presenter proposal. Selected speakers receive complimentary event registration which includes breakfast, lunch, parking and access to all training materials . Deadline for this submission is Friday, December 12, 2025.
